Blackstone Generates Whopping ₹4,000 Crore From India IPOs In 2024, Gears Up For A Promising 2025. Why India Remains Central To Its Strategy

The year 2024 marked a standout period for India’s primary markets, and Blackstone Advisors India Pvt. emerged as a key beneficiary.

Leveraging the buoyant IPO market, the global investment giant realized approximately ₹4,000 crore in gains through the public listings of three portfolio companies.

Blackstone earned ₹2,000 crore through an offer-for-sale in Aadhar Housing Finance Ltd. in May 2024 and another ₹2,750 crore from the share sale of International Gemological Institute India Ltd. (IGI).

Although Ventive Hospitality Ltd. did not include an offer-for-sale, Blackstone’s investment in the Panchshil joint venture delivered a 4% premium at the upper price band and a 16% return upon listing.

This translated to a remarkable 68% return on investment for Blackstone through its IPO strategy, significantly outpacing the Nifty 50’s annual return of 8.75%.

Blackstone’s Holdings in 2024

As of December 30, Blackstone retains a substantial stake in its 2024 IPOs, collectively valued at ₹37,800 crore. This includes:

—A 76% controlling stake in Aadhar Housing, worth ₹14,140 crore.
—A 77% stake in IGI, valued at over ₹18,300 crore.
—A 32% stake in Ventive, worth ₹5,300 crore.

While Ventive’s returns were comparatively modest, Blackstone’s Head of Real Estate in India, Tuhin Parikh, expressed confidence in the long-term value creation potential of the hospitality sector.

Blackstone’s total investments in India, spanning private equity and real estate, are valued at over $55 billion, making it one of the largest private equity players in the country.
